3 Ways the ‘Internet Of Things’ will innovate the Indian Retail Industry in 2017

sketch of materials which used in retail store

The Internet of Things is expected to take off globally in the year 2017. According to IDC, the digital signage usage itself will grow from $6 billion in 2013 to $27.5 billion in 2018, as retailers continue to digitize the consumer experience. In India too, there will be a number of retail companies who are expected to take the lead and deploy solutions on a pilot basis to determine the effectiveness and ROI of IoT in their retail business.

Indian brands and retailers that want to take advantage of the Internet of Things will innovate in these areas:

1. Enhanced product visibility coupled with consumer experience1.

With more and more product launches and limited shelf space availability, it has become a challenge for brands to get customer eyeballs at the point of sales. As a result, brands and retailers will use IoT solutions like digital signage, heat maps to determine where exactly should their promotion material be placed and for how long. Proximity sensors coupled with camera data will determine the nature of engagement with the customer and will be used to redefine strategies.

2. Optimize store operations

Traditionally, the Indian retail industry has used low-cost labor to deliver operations. However, with the costs going up, retailers feel the need to optimize the operations cost and streamline efficiency.

For example, RFID technology and other sensors can provide the central with real-time data about the inventory in the store, the shopper behavior etc. will allow retailers to better manage store assets and employees. Lighting, refrigerators, and other store assets will be controlled centrally based on the data provided by these sensors. This will not only reduce the costs but also provide a holistic view of the areas that need to be further optimized.

3. Improved supply chain management

With the vast geography of the Indian market, supply chain management has always been a problem. Retailers would like to not only avoid stocking low selling products but also want real-time data of what products are selling and the dynamics behind these sales. This will help them proactively solve the stocking issue and lead to an increase in sales.

IoT-enabled systems such as weight sensors can trigger real-time inventory actions. It will also help provide data for analysis to understand stocking and the impact of time of day, weather and other environmental conditions on product sales.
Fleet management software will help ensure that the products are dispatched on time and do not remain in the warehouse and are stocked as quickly as possible.

EasyReach BLE Asset Tracking Solution

How BLE Asset Tracking Solutions Are Transforming Pune’s Manufacturing Hubs in 2026

Pune’s industrial landscape is undergoing a powerful digital revolution. In the bustling MIDC zones—Factories, warehouses, and automotive plants—the challenge of managing thousands of moving parts, tools, and pallets becomes overwhelming. While many facilities historically relied on manual logs or basic RFID, a new leader has emerged in the world of indoor positioning: Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Asset Tracking Solution. In this article, we explore why BLE is becoming the gold standard for industrial asset management across Maharashtra’s most vital MIDC zones. Why Pune’s Industrial Hubs are Choosing EasyReach BLE over GPS & RFID Pune’s manufacturing plants are rapidly adopting EasyReach BLE because it overcomes the key limitations of both GPS and RFID in real industrial environments. Unlike GPS, which fails indoors due to poor signal penetration through factory roofs and metal structures, BLE delivers reliable, accurate tracking inside MIDC warehouses and assembly lines. At the same time, it surpasses traditional RFID with a longer range, fewer required readers, and true real-time visibility instead of just choke-point detection. With lower infrastructure cost, EasyReach BLE offers a more practical and cost-effective asset tracking solution for high-value components in Pune’s busy industrial hubs. Here is why local plant managers are making the switch: Real-World Applications in the Pune Region Automotive Inventory: Tracking engine blocks or chassis as they move through different assembly stages, ensuring no station is left idle. Forklift & AGV Management: Optimizing the movement of forklifts to improve safety in a busy logistics environment. Tool & Die Tracking: Never losing a high-value custom mold again. In a busy MIDC unit, knowing exactly which shelf a tool is on can save hours of downtime. Implementing BLE in Your Facility Transitioning to an Industrial IoT (IIoT) framework doesn’t have to happen overnight. Most successful implementations in Maharashtra begin with a pilot program—identifying a high-value “pain point” and deploying a focused BLE network to solve it. As we look toward the future of Industry 4.0 in India, the ability to see your operations in real-time is the ultimate competitive advantage. Whether you are based in the heart of Pune or the industrial belts of Mumbai, BLE asset tracking provides the visibility you need to eliminate waste and maximize throughput. Is your facility ready to implement BLE Asset Tracking? At EasyReach Solutions, we specialize in end-to-end BLE and IoT ecosystems designed for the rigors of the Indian industry. Securing Every Ounce: The Future of Gold Loan Safety with EasyReach BLE

In the high-stakes world of gold loans, a pouch is more than just fabric—it’s a vessel of trust, reputation, and immense financial value. For industry leaders like Manappuram Finance and growing NBFCs, the challenge is critical: How do you safeguard thousands of individual assets against theft and internal error without adding complexity? The Invisible Sentry The EasyReach created this flat PCB beacon in direct response to the needs of gold loan companies. This Bluetooth LE beacon is designed to slide into the inner layer of gold pouches without adding bulk. It enables precise monitoring of pouch status — detecting when a pouch is opened or closed, recording exact opening and closing time, and transmitting secure data with easy installation. This innovative solution helps safeguard customers’ gold against theft, misplacement, and internal errors, while providing complete visibility and accountability throughout the loan lifecycle. With our flat BLE beacon, gold loan providers can now offer enhanced security, build greater customer confidence, and strengthen operational control — all without adding bulk or complexity to their existing processes. Key Features: Installation – Set up the Beacon PCB with a connected flat battery, the inner layer of the pouch, and stick the mini sensor on the metal zip of the pouch. Real-time Open / Close Monitoring – The BLE tracker sensor instantly knows when the pouch is open or closed. BLE Data Transmission – The beacon wirelessly sends pouch status and event logs to your existing BLE gateway, mobile app, or central monitoring system. No manual checks. No guesswork. Audit-Ready Records – Every open and close event creates an automatic digital trail — complete with exact date, time, and duration the pouch remained open. Perfect for internal audits, compliance, and dispute resolution Why Gold Loan Providers are Switching: Total Theft Prevention: Immediate alerts for unauthorized openings close security loopholes. Zero Misplacement: Real-time location tracking ensures you know where every pouch is—from the vault to transit. Zero Operational Friction: The flat design adds virtually zero weight or thickness. Battery life is optimized for months of continuous monitoring, so you replace beacons only during routine maintenance cycles. Customer Confidence: Offering “Smart-Tracked” pouches differentiates your service and builds deep trust with borrowers. Scalable for any operation Whether you manage 500 pouches or 50,000, EasyReach provides the scalable, affordable, and invisible layer of security.
